Arkansas football faces its first of two SEC East opponents during the 2017 season when they travel to Columbia to face the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Arkansas Razorbacks have a chance to get the first win in the SEC this year in Week 6 against the South Carolina Gamecocks. After defeating the New Mexico State Aggies last week, the Hogs only have one non-conference opponent left on tap.

Meanwhile, South Carolina has been on a slide since star wide receiver Deebo Samuel was injured and knocked out for the rest of the season. Sophomore quarterback Jake Bentley has not been enough for the Gamecocks to win games. Last week, South Carolina lost a close one to the quarterback Kellen Mond and the Texas A&M Aggies.

Arkansas actually enters this game as the favorite, even though the game is played at Williams-Brice Stadium, home of the Gamecocks. The Hogs are only a two-point favorite, though. This one really seems like it could go either way.

Both Arkansas and South Carolina are fighting for their lives in the respective divisions in the SEC. Arkansas could battle the LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, and Mississippi State Bulldogs for positioning at the bottom of the SEC West. However, South Carolina will have an uphill battle trying to climb past the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators. The only win that South Carolina has against an SEC East opponent is the team that should finish at the bottom of the division in the Mizzou Tigers.

One reason that this matchup will be so much fun to watch is because both these teams are so different. South Carolina relies on Bentley in the passing game while Arkansas relies very heavily on the ground game.

Now, let’s take a look at five reasons why the Arkansas Razorbacks will defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 6.
