1. Austin Allen continues hot streak

Senior quarterback Austin Allen had one of his best, if not his best, games of the season last week against New Mexico State. Allen had a rough finish to the Texas A&M game as the Aggies sealed the victory in overtime on an Armani Watts interception.

However, Allen responded about as good as Arkansas fans could have hoped for against New Mexico State with more than 260 passing yards and three touchdowns with only one interception. New Mexico State had given the Arizona State Sun Devils, a quality Power Five team, a tough test earlier in the season too.

A senior leader like Allen knows when he has finally found his groove and that could be now after a slow start to the 2017 campaign. South Carolina allowed a big game from Kellen Mond last weekend in the second half on the way to a seven-point defeat.

If Allen comes through with a big performance against the Gamecocks, it will go a long way for the Hogs to open up some room for the ground game. It’ll be tough for a quarterback who has not played great against Power Five competition this year, though.
