3. South Carolina’s defense comes up big

South Carolina is not a really high scoring team but what they lack in scoring, they make up for in points allowed per game. The Gamecocks only allow 20.8 points but only score 22.6.

Arkansas gave up 50 points to A&M, who improved and had a rest before South Carolina held them to only 24. While the Gamecocks were holding A&M’s offense to half what Arkansas could, the Razorbacks gave up that same 24 points to New Mexico State.

The Razorbacks defense is not good, plain and simple. If South Carolina has a defensive performance like they had against the Aggies, the Gamecocks could very well take the win on Saturday simply because Arkansas’ defense is not going to be able to hold them.

My prediction is South Carolina holds Arkansas to 21. What does that mean for the outcome of the game for the Gamecocks? Well, it all comes down to what they can do offensively to the Razorbacks. Thus, I give you my second prediction for Saturday.
