After pulling off a commanding 56-0 victory over Rutgers, Ohio State football must now turn its attention to Maryland. Here are three bold predictions.

The Big Ten may be the toughest conference in all of college football.

With three undefeated teams, No. 4 Penn State, No. 7 Michigan and No. 9 Wisconsin atop the standings, and one-loss teams like No. 10 Ohio State, Maryland and Michigan State following closely behind, it’s fairly obvious that whoever wins the Big Ten will see their 2017 season extend into the College Football Playoff.

And one game that could have serious implications on the Big Ten East’s standings going forward is the Week 6 contest between Ohio State and Maryland in Columbus.

After finishing the 2016 season with a disappointing 6-7 record under first year head coach D.J. Durkin, Maryland has won three of its first four games, including a Week 1 victory over a then-ranked Texas team, and have done so with three different starting quarterbacks.

After defeating Minnesota in Week 5, third-string sophomore Max Bortenschlager will now lead his Terrapins to Columbus to face off against Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes.

Arguably one of the most complete teams in the nation, Ohio State has been on a tear since losing a Week 2 heartbreaker to Big 12 heavyweight Oklahoma, but the Buckeyes blew out their next three opponents by a combined score of 148-28 in the hopes of strengthening their resume as they strive for post season play.

While Ohio State seems like a virtual lock to defeat Maryland in front of the home crowd, this game could be sneaky good, and should be considered a much watch for Big Ten fans.

Here are three things to watch in Ohio State’s Week 6 game against Maryland.
