Ole Miss football will travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers in Week 6, but will the Rebels be able to keep this one close?

No one said this season was going to be easy for Ole Miss football. The Rebels are currently 2-2 and coming off their worst loss in recent memory, getting demolished 66-3 by Alabama. The Crimson Tide had their way with the Rebels in a game that many believed would give Nick Saban’s squad a tough test.

However, it’s time for the Rebels to shift their focus to the other top-tier Alabama-based program in Auburn. The Tigers are currently 4-1 with their only loss during the 2017 season coming against defending national champion Clemson.

This game should be interesting as the Rebels have the talent to rise to the occasion and compete in this one, but will they still be reeling after a blowout loss? Take a look at our three bold predictions for the Saturday afternoon SEC showdown.

3. Shea Patterson out-duels Jarrett Stidham

On the road against one of the better defenses in the SEC? I’m crazy, right? When you look at the numbers, Shea Patterson has had a better overall season than Jarrett Stidham and it’s likely due to the fact that Ole Miss is often playing from behind.

Stidham is heating up, though, going over 200 yards in each of his last three starts. He has just five touchdown passes this season, though, as Auburn’s defense and run game has been carrying most of the load.

Patterson is going to have another 300-plus yard performance against the Tigers, going for 315 and two touchdowns while Stidham will pass for just 210 and two scores. The numbers will be skewed because of a late-game passing fury from Patterson, but he will still look solid, completing 65 percent of his throws.
