West Virginia football has its toughest matchup of the year since the season opener against Virginia Tech when they travel to Fort Worth, TX, against TCU.

The biggest matchup in the Big 12 in Week 6 is the No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers taking on the No. 8 TCU Horned Frogs. ESPN’s College GameDay is in Fort Worth, TX, for this game. It’s also one of only two games in Week 6 that involved two AP Top 25 teams. The other came on Thursday night when No. 17 Louisville Cardinals fell to No. 24 NC State.

Last year, West Virginia beat the Horned Frogs by a 24-point margin. Yet, the matchup looks much different than it did one season ago. West Virginia was a top 25 team that won double-digit games last year. Meanwhile, TCU did not even post a winning record.

This year, TCU looks to be a real player in the Big 12 Championship picture. West Virginia could also have a real chance to play in the conference title game. Both teams have not lost a game in the Big 12 yet this season.

TCU proved something with the big win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys earlier in the season. The Frogs went into Stillwater, OK, and beat the Pokes at their house at Boone Pickens Stadium. That put the Frogs in position to compete with the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners for the top spot in the conference.

West Virginia does have the offensive ability to stay with the Frogs stride for stride. Mountaineers quarterback Will Grier has actually been better than TCU’s senior quarterback Kenny Hill statistically in 2017. It will be a real battle between the two offenses.

Now, let’s take a look at three bold predictions for the West Virginia Mountaineers vs. TCU Horned Frogs in Week 6.
