For the sixth time this season, Clemson football was victorious, coming out of Week 6 action with a 28-14 victory over Wake Forest. The win, though, didn’t come without a loss.
Quarterback Kelly Bryant left the contest in the third quarter with the Tigers leading 21-0 on the scoreboard. He was given treatment by medical personnel and attempted to run on his injured ankle, but never returned.
So far, there are no reports to the seriousness of the injury, as both Zerrick Cooper and Hunter Johnson closed things out.
The Tiger defense again looked like one of the best in the nation, keeping Wake Forest out of the end zone until under nine minutes left in the game. They allowed just over 300 yards of total offense, including 295 to quarterback Kendall Hinton, who made his first start in place of John Wolford.
Outside of that, Clemson once again looked like a national title contender, earning its ninth consecutive win over the Demon Deacons. The defeat was the second straight for Wake Forest, which started the year 4-0.
To compound the injury to Bryant, the Tigers are on a short week of prep as they travel to Syracuse this Friday night for a showdown in the Carrier Dome.
