Miami football beat Florida State 24-20 in another classic rivalry match-up. The FSU win streak is over. What did we learn from the Canes win?

Miami and Florida State have played in some of the greatest games in college football history. The Hurricanes and Seminoles have come down to the wire in the last four match-ups, with the difference totaling 14 points over the past four years. Miami had not won this rivalry game since 2009, when Miami won by four points. Al Golden couldn’t do in four seasons what Mark Richt just did in two, beat the ‘Noles.

Miami came into the game underdogs per the S&P+. The Seminoles were ranked 6th overall while Miami was ranked 11th. Mark Richt‘s offense was weak, the Canes offense only ran for 83 yards and averaged 5.8 yards per passing attempt and 2.9 yards per rush.

In the end it came down to a Ken Dorsey like moment for the Hurricanes where Malik Rosier drove Miami down the field and threw the game winning touchdown to an unheralded receiver. Back in 2000, it was Jeremy Shockey who at the time was a back-up tight end that just transferred in from junior college. This time it was to Darrell Langham– who has three career receptions and only this lone touchdown in his career.

Miami against Florida State made for another amazing ACC match-up and went a long way to prove the conference is elite in the world of college football. Here are the three takeaways from another great Miami versus Florida State in-season match-up
