2. Barrett is Urban Meyer’s guy

Urban Meyer has always had J.T. Barrett’s back. Like previously mentioned, he immediately shot down the idea of benching him after the Oklahoma game.

The only time he seemed to favor against Barrett was to open the 2015 season. Even then, he ended up naming J.T. the starter a few weeks later.

You can’t blame Meyer that much either, Cardale Jones had just won a Big Ten and a national championship. It’s probably hard to make someone who won a championship the second string.

Barrett was Meyer’s first quarterback recruit at Ohio State, which may increase his loyalty a little bit. It’s been rumored that Meyer wants to stay loyal so it wouldn’t look bad, but don’t buy stock in that.

If Urban Meyer really thought another quarterback gave the Buckeyes a better shot at winning then they’d be the starter. J.T. is just his guy, simply put. Urban’s job depends on winning and his decisions will come based on doing so.
