Auburn did what pretty much everyone expected, which was to get a win over Ole Miss. Here are our three takeaways from the game.

It was the outcome that was generally expected. An undermanned Ole Miss team walked into Jordan-Hare Stadium, hoping to just hang around. Auburn took care of business early with an unstoppable running attack.

Kerryon Johnson paced the Tigers with 204 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground. Jarrett Stidham maintained his high level play from a week ago, throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns.

The Auburn defense was their usual selves, stymieing the Ole Miss offense for most of the game. Although Ole Miss was able to move the ball a few times down field, Auburn only allowed one touchdown in the redzone.

For Ole Miss, the struggles of this tough 2017 campaign continue. The offense was generally better than it had been in the past two games. AJ Brown had over 100 yards receiving again. While DK Metcalf had two receiving touchdowns. Shea Patterson looked good and was protected much better than he was against Alabama.

Overall, the game was better for the Rebels (offense only) it was just too tall of a task to defeat Auburn. On the defensive side of the ball it’s clear that Ole Miss’s issues won’t be resolved this season. The amount of missed tackles was egregious and the holes that Auburn had open on the ground game were numerous.

Now, let’s dive into the takeaways from Auburn’s win.
