3. Kerryon Johnson is the real deal

Kerryon Johnson missed a couple games to begin the season with a hamstring injury, but i’d say it’s safe to say he’s making up for missed time. Johnson was all but unstoppable against Ole Miss. Rushing for 204 yards on 28 carries. Johnson probably could’ve been on the field by himself against the Rebel defense and still have been fine. Even when defenders got to him he was able to shake them off and just keep on trucking.

It’s clear that Johnson will be the work horse of the offense for the rest of the season. If he maintains performances like he did against Ole Miss then it makes the Auburn offense that much more dangerous.

Johnson playing well is good for quarterback Jarrett Stidham as well. It allows Stidham to not have to do too much. He can feel more comfortable knowing that he can just hand the ball off to someone that is going to make plays happen. Johnson was great as well last week against Mississippi State, so was Stidham. Their performances go hand in hand. Not mention that with a strong running game that defenses will have to account for, it allows Malzahn to dial up play action passes down the field.

I expect Johnson to be the clear focal point for the Auburn offense going forward from here. He’ll produce, and as long as he does, the Tigers will probably keep winning. As of now, Auburn looks like a very good threat to Alabama in the SEC West.
