Texas A&M football gave the No. 1 team in the nation a scare as Alabama held on to an eight-point victory in College Station. The Aggies might be better than we thought.

Texas A&M football gave its best effort against the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 6, showing that they’re for real with freshman quarterback Kellen Mond. After Alabama defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores and Ole Miss Rebels by more than a 100-point margin combined, few expected the Aggies to have a chance.

Alabama did control the game really the entire way. However, Texas A&M was always lurking around waiting for an opportunity to make things interesting. A huge punt block from the “literal 12th man” brought the game closer in the second half when the Tide had a 24-10 lead and looked to be running away.

Head coach Kevin Sumlin is proving that he really is starting to turn things around in College Station, TX. Texas A&M has come up clutch on multiple occasions and made things very interesting with the best team in the country at Kyle Field.

The best player for Alabama on defense did make a big play when it was needed. Defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick could end up being a top 5 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and he proved why he’s such a sought after prospect in this game. Fitzpatrick nabbed the only pick that Mond tossed.

A late touchdown from Texas A&M was too little too late for the Aggies as they lost by a final score of 27-19. Considering they were 26.5-point underdogs to the Tide, it was a very good effort from the Aggies. Next week, they get the Florida Gators at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in a cross-conference matchup.

Now, let’s take a look at three takeaways from Texas A&M’s loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 6.
