3. Sam Darnold might be getting back on track

It’s hard to tell how Sam Darnold is trending this year. Oregon State is not even close to the toughest defense that USC faces this season. However, Darnold did look very good for most of the game and he limited the turnover issues.

Darnold completed 23 of his 35 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns and only one interception. That needs to continue being the type of stat line that he posts moving through the rest of the PAC-12 slate.

Entering this game, Darnold tossed only one more touchdown than he had interceptions. Yet, with the one pick thrown by Darnold against the Beavers, he already has as many interceptions as he did during the entire 2016 campaign.

When USC faces the No. 20 Utah Utes next week, we’ll get to see where Darnold is really at. Utah has one of the best defenses in the conference and Darnold has struggled with his accuracy against talented secondaries.
