Loser: Louisville Cardinals (No. 17 to unranked)

The Louisville Cardinals fell once again in ACC play, this time 39-25 to the NC State Wolfpack. It seemed like it was quarterback Lamar Jackson then everybody else for the Cardinals offense in another tough loss.

Jackson finished with three total touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 passing), 354 passing yards and 73 rushing yards, but the offense still seemed rather vanilla against the NC State defense. Wide receivers Seth Dawkins and Dez Fitzpatrick still had big games, but in terms of making big plays, the Louisville offense fell flat once again.

Dawkins finished with five catches for 133 receiving yards and a touchdown. Fitzpatrick finished with 10 catches for 134 receiving yards. Louisville didn’t get much else from their receiving corps outside of those two.

The struggle to find another rusher outside of Jackson continues for head coach Bobby Petrino and the coaching staff. They got 30 rushing yards out of running back Malik Williams on six carries in Week 6.

Non-conference games may be spoiling this group, scheduling games outside of Kent State and Murray State could be useful in improving results when conference play arrives.

This week, the Cardinals face a beaten up 2-4 Boston College Golden Eagles team. Getting back in the win column in conference play will be key this week as Louisville is currently 1-2.
