2. Michigan’s defense is still serious

Honestly, after watching Michigan play a few times this year, I think the Wolverines are easily top-five team on defense. Not many teams can match them player-for-player on that side of the ball.

They have the numbers to back it up also only allowing 203 total yards per game before tonight. With the rain hitting heavy in the second half, Michigan did a great job at making Michigan State a run-heavy team and keeping everything in front of them.

They only gave up 252 total yards and allowed only two first downs in the second half. They were impressive, because they did this when the offense had five turnovers. They didn’t allow Michigan State to crack the 100-yard mark passing — although the Spartans didn’t pass much in the second half. The defensive line, as a whole, dominated the game, but it wasn’t enough because the offense couldn’t take of business.

The defense will continue to be top-tier, but if Michigan wants to be a threat at the end of the season the offensive side of the ball especially the quarterback position needs to get on the bus with them.
