Arkansas Football: Bret Bielema could be returning to the hot seat
Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema had a rough go at things for the Hogs first two SEC games of the season, resulting in two losses.
Arkansas football had a very disappointing show out against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 6. After a tough game against the Texas A&M Aggies, in a near win, and then dominating the New Mexico State Aggies, the Hogs looked to be competitive for the rest of the SEC slate.
Now, it might be until Arkansas faces the Mizzou Tigers in a cross-conference game near the end of the 2017 season that they could be a favorite against SEC competition. The SEC West will not have a single easy win this year.
Even the Ole Miss Rebels have a sophomore quarterback in Shea Patterson that has had a few rough games and will be looking to rebound. Yet, Arkansas-Ole Miss does not even happen until Oct. 28 after two games against the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema was put on the hot seat at the beginning of the 2016 campaign. Yet, Bielema actually led the Hogs to a decent season last year. That same thing is not likely to happen again this year. The Hogs need four more wins to become bow eligible and the schedule is extremely tough.
Games against Ole Miss, Mizzou, and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers should help the Hogs get to five wins. Yet, Arkansas will need to beat either Auburn, Alabama, LSU or Mississippi State to get that sixth win. You would think that Bielema needs to get the Hogs to a bowl game to at least keep job security through the end of the season.

Seeing how Arkansas fares against Auburn and Alabama will tell Razorbacks fans a lot about how senior quarterback Austin Allen can respond after a 48-22 loss to South Carolina. More than anything, Bielema needs to have his team ready to go to face two of the best teams in the SEC over the next two weeks.
