Major upsets sent AP Top 25 teams down the polls this week. Here are the three worst losses from among a crowded field of contenders in Week 6.
Every week, we see teams win and teams lose. That is a given in every sport, especially ones that no longer have ties. This week, we had the privilege of witnessing history as Buffalo and Western Michigan went to seven overtimes and broke the FBS record for most points in a game. After missing a couple of field goals that would have won the game earlier, the Broncos held on to take down the Bulls on the road.

But Buffalo was expected to lose by a touchdown, and their loss can hardly be classified among the worst losses of the week. Even managing to take the defending MAC champion to a single overtime period was a laudable feat for Lance Leipold’s squad.
Instead, there were plenty of other candidates around the country for this week’s list of the worst losses. Four teams fell from the ranks of the undefeated, including three AP Top 25 squads. Their defeats were far more damaging for teams’ long-term hopes and had a much wider impact on the broader college football world.
