Washington football blew the Cal Golden Bears out of the water in a Week 6 matchup at Husky Stadium by a final score of 38-7.

No. 5 Washington football passed one of its biggest tests of the season so far, against the Cal Golden Bears. It was the second consecutive game that the Huskies held their opponent to seven points. Last week, the Oregon State Beavers only put up one touchdown in  a 42-7 loss.

Against Cal, the Huskies controlled the game the entire way on route to a 38-7 victory. They held a 24-0 lead at halftime and it was not until the third quarter that the Golden Bears were even able to get on the scoreboard. Cal quarterbacks Ross Bowers and Chase Forrest had a tough time getting anything going as the Golden Bears were held to under 150 yards passing.

Head coach Chris Peterson is showing why he is one of the very best in the country. The Boise State Broncos are now struggling to even make it to the Mountain West Championship Game each year without Peterson at the helm. Washington is now a solidified contender for the College Football Playoff.

The Huskies will likely need to win out to have a guaranteed spot in the Playoff. With how easy the non-conference slate was for them, they really need to roll through PAC-12 play. The three-game stretch to end the regular season against the No. 23 Stanford Cardinal, Utah Utes, and No. 8 Washington State Cougars will be a huge challenge.

For now, the Huskies need to keep the momentum rolling as they take on the Arizona State Sun Devils on the road in Week 7.

Now, let’s take a look at five game balls to be handed out from Washington’s win over the Cal Golden Bears in Week 6.
