The Huskers started the game with major momentum that was soon thwarted by linebacker Chris Orr. After a couple of first downs to start the drive, Nebraska found themselves in Badgers territory quickly to begin the game.

The loud and energetic crowd that was getting behind their fast start was soon silenced as a Tanner Lee swing out pass bounced off his intended receiver and into the hands of Orr. A confusing play that had many on the offensive side of the ball think the play was dead, no one came near to catching Orr as he took the ball back 78 yards for the game’s opening score, silencing the crowd and putting the Badgers up 7-0.

Nebraska’s offensive line did a decent job containing Orr the rest of the game, specifically in the first half as he finished with just two total tackles. Despite his quietness the remainder of the battle, Orr’s interception return for a touchdown was a huge momentum shift in the first quarter and a major point swing that could have seen the Huskers go up early, but instead faced them with an early deficit- exactly what they did not want.

Orr has been a major factor in the Badgers’ defensive successes this year after the team lost two starting linebackers to start the year, including their star in Jack Cichy.
