Week 6 of the Big Ten football season came with surprises. Will there be a shake-up in the top four teams?
Just when you start to think you have the Big Ten figured out. The top and bottom of the conference seem to be well defined for now. Now the middle of the conference is muddled with teams that seem to be inconsistent, but have the potential to be good.
No question the biggest upset of the week goes to Michigan State with its win over rival Michigan. Few prognosticators were picking the Spartans, but they pulled it out during a rain soaked night in Ann Arbor. It’s a big boost for a program that many thought would not compete in the Big Ten East this season.
In addition to Michigan State surging, Purdue is moving on up as well. The top teams all continued to roll, but we will see how long that lasts, especially with Penn State having the toughest stretch of their season after their bye week.
