So you’re saying there’s a chance

vs Texas Tech – Nov. 11, vs Iowa State Nov. 18

The Red Raiders found their way into the AP Poll for the first time this season. While they might be listed as one of the best teams in the nation right now, it’s purely based on their offensive production, not their defense. When they travel to Waco in mid-November there is a high likelihood of a shootout breaking out.

Texas Tech has an improved defense, but they still rank eighth in the conference in total defense. Their edge thus far has rested on winning the turnover battle. The Red Raiders have forced 14 turnovers and committed just five. That’s going to come back to earth a bit over the course of the season. Fewer big plays by their defense should keep Baylor in the game.

Then there’s the Cyclones. Iowa State seemed to be out of luck when they traveled to Norman without their starting quarterback. Somehow, ISU stunned the Sooners as more than four touchdown underdogs. It was an incredible game, but this is the same team that lost a shootout to Iowa and a defensive struggle to Texas.

Iowa State is an improved football team, but they’re more of a David than a Goliath. That makes them just mortal enough for something weird to happen in Waco and allow the Bears to win.
