After a convincing defeat last week, Arkansas football looks to respond in a big way against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Oct. 14.

Arkansas football is not having the season anticipated as it enters a matchup with the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide with only two wins. The 48-22 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks was not well anticipated either. Arkansas actually entered the game against South Carolina as he favorite.

Containing sophomore South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley was a huge problem for the Razorbacks defense. And, it was not the first time this year that a young quarterback in the SEC got the best of the Hogs. True freshman Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond led the way for the Aggies in a 50-43 overtime win at a neutral site.

In Week 7, Arkansas faces its toughest opponent of the season, hands down. Alabama has torched every team they’ve played, aside from a close first half against the Florida State Seminoles and Texas A&M. The 66-3 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels made a statement to the entire college football world.

Yet, after the eight-point win over Texas A&M, the Tide look somewhat vulnerable. Alabama was around a four touchdown favorite over the Aggies and had some real trouble putting them away.

Arkansas could not really get the Tide at a better time. Head coach Bret Bielema is on the hot seat and has his back against the wall. He knows things won’t get much easier from here as the Hogs next matchup after the Tide is against the Auburn Tigers. It’s a great opportunity to get some momentum going building toward a big second half of the season.
