With league races heating up for many Group of Five teams, which five mid-majors have the best shot of dishing out upsets in Week 7?

A slew of conference showdowns marks the Group of Five slate for Week 7. Of course, this is the time of year that really matters most for mid-majors dreaming of a trip to a New Year’s Six bowl game. Only a conference championship will qualify a team for consideration by the College Football Playoff selection committee.

Anything less renders even a strong case moot, as Houston discovered last year. Despite two strong wins over Power Five teams, the lack of an American Athletic Conference crown eliminated the Cougars from consideration.

This week, plenty of hopefuls will be playing. In some cases, oddsmakers have thrown a few wrenches into the system. One must remember that betting lines are set to generate betting on both sides of the mark. As that is the case, they do not always accurately reflect the actual variance between two teams. This is reflected in several of the oddities we will discuss this week.

So which Group of Five teams could put a dent in their conference rivals’ dreams of contending for the league crown? Keep reading on to see which teams will provide upset threats for more heralded league opponents during Week 7 action. (All point spreads courtesy of Sportsbook Review.)
