Louisville football will host Boston College in an important Week 7 ACC bout. Here’s everything you need to know for the matchup.

The last time we saw the Cardinals on the football field it was in a losing effort at the hands of a red-hot NC State team. While the Wolfpack do appear to be a real contender in the ACC Atlantic, it was more than disappointing for Lamar Jackson‘s squad to pick up their second loss of the season to a team lacking the name recognition of team like Clemson, who handed them loss number one,

Boston College can also claim a loss to Clemson, and two more ACC losses to go with it. The Eagles are still looking for that elusive first conference victory. Unless they find an offense some time soon, that’s not going to come easy against the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

The Eagles never had any ACC Championship aspirations, but the Cardinals do – or at least they did. They’ll need to take care of business at home and get some a lot of help if that hope is ever going to amount to anything substantial. That starts with beating BC.

Here’s how to watch Saturday’s Louisville vs Boston College game:

Date: Saturday, Oct. 14
Time: 12:20 p.m. ET
Location: Louisville, Ky.
Venue: Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium

Keys to Victory

This game figures to be the battle of two first round draft picks. Defense end Harold Landry has been, and will continue to be, the heart and soul of this Eagles defense. The senior continues is tied for ninth in the nation with five sacks. He also has eight tackles for a loss. Chasing down Lamar Jackson will prove to be his toughest task yet. Winning that battle should be enough for Louisville to secure the victory.

The Cardinal offense against the Eagle defense is a battle of strength on strength. The inverse figures to be a bit more open. Since losing Jaire Alexander, Louisville has looked clueless against opposing passing attacks of any caliber. The Cardinals rank 12th in the ACC in passing defense.

Boston College isn’t exactly an offensive juggernaut. In last week’s defeat at the hands of Virginia Tech the Eagles were kept out of the endzone entirely until a garbage time touchdown. The running back duo of Jon Hillman and AJ Dillon has been moderately effective, but certainly nothing to write home about. That means quarterback Anthony Brown is going to have to take advantage of the Cardinal’s secondary for Boston College to have a chance.

Prediction

It would be nice to think that Boston College had a chance here, but a road game against the talent of Lamar Jackson is a tall order. The Eagles will find more success on the offensive side of the ball than they did against the Hokies, but it’s not going to be enough to keep pace with the quick-strike ability of the Louisville offense.

Lamar Jackson reminds people that he still has legitimate Heisman aspirations with a five touchdown, 500 all-purpose yard game as the Cardinals role to another ACC victory. This game might very well be over at half time.

Final Score: Boston College 10, Louisville 38
