Oklahoma vs Texas: 3 bold predictions for Red River Rivalry in Week 7
The biggest spotlight of any game in the Big 12 in Week 7 belongs to Oklahoma vs Texas in the Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
The Oklahoma Sooners are coming off one of, if not the, biggest upsets of the season. Meanwhile, the Texas Longhorns are 2-0 in Big 12 play and enter the Red River Shootout with a considerable amount of momentum. Yet, the Horns are still large underdogs.
This is a coaching matchup between two guys that are in their first years with each program. OU head coach Lincoln Riley is coming off an enormous setback in the loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. That was especially disappointing considering how good the Sooners looked in the huge victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes on the road.
Texas head coach Tom Herman seems to be getting his program on the right track with two straight conference victories over Iowa State and the Kansas State Wildcats. The game against Kansas State was taken into overtime and sealed with a touchdown on the first offensive possession for the Horns.
For each team, this is an extraordinarily important matchup that has direct implications in the Big 12 Title race. With the Big 12 Championship Game coming at the end of the season, the urgency to finish as one of the top two teams in the conference needs to be here.
OU cannot afford to lose another game in conference this season. They still have to face the TCU Horned Frogs, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Oklahoma State Cowboys this year. The Sooners have faced two of what should be the lower tier teams in the Big 12.
Now, let’s take a look at three bold predictions for the Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners in Week 7.
