Things do not get much easier for West Virginia football as they take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Oct. 14 to try and win the fourth game of the year.

West Virginia football was bounced from the AP Top 25 after a Week 6 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs, now the clear front runner in the Big 12. That loss brings the Mountaineers to a 3-2 (1-1 Big 12) record on the season with two losses against ranked opponents.

In Week 7, West Virginia faces the No. 24 Texas Tech Red Raiders, the third ranked opponent of the 2017 campaign. Texas Tech has only one loss, which came against the No. 14 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys at home at Jones AT&T Stadium. However, the loss was not that bad as the Red Raiders were only one possession away from winning the game.

Meanwhile, aside from the loss to TCU, West Virginia has also lost to the No. 15 Virginia Tech Hokies. The loss to Virginia Tech came in the first week of the year. They’re still in search of a significant win this season.

Considering the three wins for the Mountaineers came against Kansas, Delaware State, and East Carolina, there’s still something left to prove. Texas Tech’s resume is much more impressive with wins over the Houston Cougars and Arizona State Sun Devils.

West Virginia is a slight 3.5-point favorite over Texas Tech. The Mountaineers do get the game at home at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, WV. That could be the boost they need to get the first victory over a ranked opponent this season.

Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury is still fighting to save his job. Kingsbury entered the season on one of the hottest seats of any head coach in the nation.

Now, let’s take a look at three bold predictions for the West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders in Week 7.
