Wide Receivers – A

The good news (see?) for Grier is the symbiotic relationship he’s cultivated with receivers Gary Jennings, Ka’Raun White, and David Sills has paid off big time for the Mountaineer offense. Jennings leads the team in receptions with 39, with Sills right behind him with 33 catches. Sills leads the team in touch receptions with nine, and White has keyed late rallies with big touchdown catches.

WVU head coach Dana Holgorson has proved through the years that just about anyone can step into the system as quarterback at put up decent numbers. The Mountaineers know what a go route is and have busted some coverage several times this season, but they’ve also shown a proficiency underneath the coverage as well.

It’s hard to separate the success through the air between Grier and has pass catchers, but it’s safe to say that both have been a plus in 2017. The passing game is always going to be the Mountaineers’ strong suit, so its continued success will be vital to WVU’s chances going forward.
