3. Boston College isn’t going to win any more ACC games this year

The Eagles have had their chances and played Louisville well today. But it’s time to call a spade a spade. Boston College is not a complete football team. This game was the exception, not the rule. Their defensive is a sieve and the offense has had one good performance in seven games.

Against the Cardinals, the passing game was putrid. Quarterback Anthony Brown completed 5-of-17 passes for 100 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The running attack was improved, but largely volume based.

On defense, the Eagles continue to be prone to giving up the big play. All but one of Louisville’s touchdowns came outside or at the edge of the redzone on plays of 22, 20, 64, 40, 9 and 41 yards.

Their schedule going forward is not kind. Following the Louisville game, here’s how the final two months of the season look for the Eagles in ACC play:

  • Oct. 21 – @ Virginia
  • Oct. 27 – vs Florida State
  • Nov. 11 – vs North Carolina State
  • Nov. 25 – @ Syracuse

The two most winnable games (Virginia and Syracuse) are both on the road. Boston College does have a road win in 2017. It came against Northern Illinois in Week 1. They scored just 23 points in the three-point victory.

Boston College had their big win against Louisville today. Eagle fans should celebrated that, but don’t expect many more this season. Conversely, this is about as embarrassing as it could get for Louisville.
