2. The Cardinals blew their chance at the ACC Atlantic

Despite already having two losses, the ACC Atlantic is proving to be more wide open than expected. Clemson proved they are mortal falling inexplicably to Syracuse on the road on Friday night. That loss, technically, put the Cardinals just one game out of the ACC race. Then they lost to Boston college.

The schedule certainly set up well for the Cardinals. Their trickiest game was supposed to come next weekend on the road at Florida State. Louisville doesn’t have a ranked team on the schedule for the rest of the season.

Clemson has games against Georgia Tech, NC State and Florida State upcoming. There’s something to be said about counting chickens before they hatch. Clemson does not have this division sewn up, not yet. And that should have left the door open for a Louisville team that has the best player in the country on their roster.

Instead Lamar Jackson is all but guaranteed to be sitting at home and watching the New Year’s Six Bowls take place without him. The loss to NC State was heartbreaking, but the Cardinals threw away their season against Boston College on Saturday.
