Michigan football earned their second Big Ten victory in Week 7 but it didn’t come easily. Here are three things we learned from the Wolverines’ game with Indiana.

Fresh off on their first loss on the season Michigan is went to Bloomington, Indiana to face Big Ten foe Indiana. Indiana entered the 0-2 Big Ten play, but their two losses are against Ohio State and Penn State so they can’t be taken lightly.

Michigan fell to No. 17 in the polls after losing to Michigan State. Both teams needed this win, but it was the Wolverines that escaped with the road win. Michigan was taken to the 15th round against Indiana, but pulled off a 27-20 win in overtime. Here are three takeaways from the game.

3. Michigan’s defense is legit

Oddly Michigan gave up 10 points in the fourth quarter to Indiana. It isn’t unsual that Indiana scored. They are a solid team with a good offense, the odd thing is that Michigan hasn’t given up any points all season in the fourth quarter. The broadcast announcers marveled at that feat, as I did myself.

This unit gave up 20 points to Indiana, but when they needed a big stand on fourth down to secure the victory in overtime. What unit made it happen? That’s right, the defense. They made the big play on 4th-and-goal when it mattered.

They picked off Cincinnati native and redshift freshman Peyton Ramsey twice and held a high-powered offense to 278 total yards. That is roughly 130 yards less than their 408.2 season average. Say what you want about their offense, but the defense gets it done.
