Franks is the man for Florida

With Luke Del Rio lost for the season and Malik Zaire nowhere to be found, Florida was counting on Feleipe Franks to show up.

The 6-5, 220-pound freshman from Crawfordville, Florida did just that Saturday night, giving the Gators some much-needed light at the quarterback position in defeat.

In a one-point loss to LSU last week, Franks passed for just 108 yards and had negative yards rushing. He made sure to do damage vs. the Aggies with both his legs and his arm.

Franks was 17 of 26 passing for 129 yards, adding 82 rushing yards. That included a 79-yard run on a night when offense was at a premium. He did throw two interceptions, including one on the final drive for Florida when they were trying to mount a comeback.

He did have good numbers in wins earlier this year over Tennessee and Vanderbilt, passing for  yards and two scores. He completed 28 of 42 in those two games combined.

On the year, Franks is completing over 63 percent of his throws, but he has connected on just three touchdowns. Maybe after the success he found on this night, those numbers will grow with his experience.
