Ohio State football came out on fire with a 35-point halftime lead over the Huskers on Saturday. Here are my threeTakeaways from Saturday’s game.

The Buckeyes’ offense has driven them to a 6-1 overall record. Yes, the offense. Urban Meyer and Kevin Wilson have found a way to get JT Barrett moving the football. Over 7 games he’s throw 16 touchdowns and only one interception.

Before the beatdown of Nebraska started, Bill C’s S&P+ had the Buckeyes number one overall and 3rd in offense. After the 31-16 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners I don’t think anyone expected where the offense has wound up, or with JT Barrett throwing for almost nine yards per attempt. The meat of OSU’s schedule is on the way with games against Penn State, Iowa, Michigan State and Michigan over their next five contests.

On the flip side, the Huskers are in the midst of a strange season where the Nebraska AD was fired mid-season over football related issues. However, Mike Riley is still the head football coach, for now. After the blowout loss to Ohio State, I’m not so sure he survives Monday morning. Riley came from Oregon State who recently fired Gary Andersen in similar awkward circumstances but I doubt he heads back to Corvallis.

Nebraska came into tonight’s contest 50th in the S&P+ and 73rd in offense with a 3-3 record. Nebraska has one of the weakest schedules in college football but could enter as underdogs in four of their next five games.

The Buckeyes are rolling their weaker opponents while the Huskers have struggled against a weak schedules. What’s to come for the second half of 2017? Here are my three takeaways.
