UCF Football is the best team that nobody in the nation is talking about. How many blowout wins will it take to get the Knights some recognition?

The Knights scored in every conceivable way in route to another lopsided victory. Now 5-0 on the season, UCF scored a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, a defensive touchdown and a punt return touchdown in their 63-21 win over East Carolina.

Five different Knights had rushing touchdowns and none of them carried the ball more than eight times. Eight rushers combined for those five scores and 238 yards on the ground on 42 carries. There are dozens of teams around the county that would take that 5.7 yards per carry average without asking any questions.

On defense the Knights held ECU quarterbacks Thomas Sirk and Gardner Minshew to a combined 15-of-33 passing for 160 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Neither had a QBR better than 50 points.

It was a dominant win in every measure possible. UCF took at 42-14 lead into half time and was able to coast to yet another win. Their version of coasting involved three more second half touchdowns. This is a complete football team that is flying under the radar because they play in the American conference. That’s not going to last much longer as the losses continue to mount for so many Power 5 teams.

The AAC actually has a pair of teams with eyes on a New Year’s Six Bowl. South Florida, led by Quinton Flowers and former Texas head coach Charlie Strong, also won on Saturday, downing Cincinnati 33-3. The season finale between the Bulls and the Knights could become a play-in game for a major bowl. Neither has looked vulnerable so far and both have offenses that could rival most any team in the country.
