UCLA Football: 3 takeaways from loss to Arizona in Week 7
2. Josh Rosen’s stock is on the way down
Unfortunately, the legend of Josh Rosen has taken a hit in recent weeks. After a bye in Week 6, the Bruins were hoping Rosen would be well-rested coming off a nice win over Colorado, but the junior gunslinger looked awful on Saturday night in Tucson.
In fact, the Wildcats were able to hold Rosen to his lowest passing total of the season — by about 100 yards — and he didn’t reach the end zone through the air. He finished with only 219 passing yards on 20-of-34 completions. To make matters worse, he threw three interceptions, which blew any chance of a momentum swing on the road.
What are NFL scouts seeing? After a loss like this in a hostile environment in which Rosen looked rattled, he might not be on top of draft boards anymore. Sam Darnold hasn’t fared much better this year, but he’s leading his team to gritty wins while Rosen is throwing three picks and no touchdowns against average defenses.
There’s no way the Bruins’ run game should have been leading the way for the offense. Rosen must be better moving forward or he can kiss his top-10 NFL draft pick status goodbye.
