Nebraska football hired Washington State athletic director Bill Moos to the same role. The time has come for the Cornhuskers to bring Mike Leach to the Midwest.

Current Nebraska head coach Mike Riley is playing on borrowred time. That’s no secret to him or the Nebraska fan base. A new head coach will more than likely be taking the reigns soon. Why not Mike Leach?

Bill Moos plans to begin work this month at his new job, giving him a few days to discuss with Leach the idea of bringing his “Air Raid” offensive system to a school rich in run-first tradition.

The Huskers are sitting at 3-4 overall entering a bye week, having been blasted at home in back-to-back weeks by Big Ten powers Wisconsin (38-17) and Ohio State (56-14). The days of Mike Riley as leader of “Big Red Nation” are dwindling down and it is doubtful that even a 4-1 or 3-2 run to end the season would be enough to give him another season.

Leach, meanwhile, would bring a spark to Lincoln that the folks have likely never seen before. He is as unorthodox as they come, but has found success at Texas Tech and Washington State during his head coaching run, winning 119 games.
