NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 7
By Dana Becker
Right now, the Chargers need help.
The team has been floundering since deciding to move to Los Angeles, failing to even fill a soccer stadium. With Philip Rivers piling up the years, it only makes sense that the Chargers look to the draft to start fresh.
Enter Josh Rosen, who, like Sam Darnold, is a California native and has been making an impact this season after returning from an injury.
Rosen, a native of Manhattan Beach, was a high school All-American and became the first true freshman to ever start the season opener for the Bruins. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, he has the right size to handle the wear and tear of the everyday life in the NFL.
As a freshman at UCLA, Rosen threw for 3,670 yards and completed 292 of 487 with 23 touchdowns. He played in just six games last year due to an injury, throwing for 1,915 yards and 10 touchdowns.
So far this year, he has looked like the prized recruit everyone was expecting, completing a career-high 65 percent of his throws for 2,354 yards and 17 touchdowns.
For an added bonus, Rivers could take on the role of mentor and leader to Rosen, helping bridge the gap between the two signal callers.
