Ohio State Football: 5 Buckeyes who earned game balls vs. Nebraska
By Jesse Smith
Ohio State football came away with a convincing victory over Nebraska in Week 7 and here’s which Buckeyes earned game balls.
No. 9 Ohio State dominated Nebraska from the opening kickoff. Nebraska had no home-field advantage once the game started and if you checked out their fans on Twitter during the contest, it was quite interesting. Ohio State won 56-14 on Saturday night and I’m going to pass out a few game balls to the Buckeye players who I felt played well last night.
Note: Because of how well they played, I could pass out more than five, so don’t beat me up too badly, #BuckeyeNation.
I’m biased with my first game ball. Freshman cornerback Amir Riep is a Cincinnati, Ohio, native and if you’re from the area, you’ve probably heard about the talented four-star cornerback out of Colerain High School. The freshman is 5-foot-11 and 183 pounds and had his first interception as a member of the scarlet and gray.
Riep’s stat line was just one tackle and one interception, but he was the only member of the defense to get an pick on Saturday.
It’s good to see a young man who I’ve covered the last three years being a local product get playing time in his first year with a program the stature of Ohio State. It was his first interception, but I’m pretty sure this won’t be his last.
This will be the first game ball that I’ve given him and like his interception count, I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last time he gets one from me or the Buckeyes. The young man will only get better with more opportunities. Salute, Mr. Riep, keep up the good work.
