College Football Playoff 2017: Projected top 4 after Week 7
2. Penn State Nittany Lions
The Penn State Nittany Lions chose the perfect week to have a bye. Their week off earned them one spot in the Week 8 AP Poll as they climbed into the No. 2 spot in the AP Poll.
The Nittany Lions are safe for now, but their spot could be the Wisconsin Badgers for the taking. The Badgers crept up into the No. 5 spot in this week’s AP Poll after winning 17-9 over the Purdue Boilermakers.
Wisconsin’s schedule favors a run at least to the Big Ten Championship game. The only ranked opponent left on their schedule is No. 19 Michigan Wolverines. Although, their matchup against the Iowa Hawkeyes should be a good one as well.
On the other hand, the Nittany Lions face No. 19 Michigan, No. 6 Ohio State and No. 18 Michigan State in consecutive weeks. If Penn State can survive those game, two of them coming on the road against Ohio State and Michigan State.
They’ll need to remain perfect to keep their spot in the rankings and playoff projections and their bye couldn’t have come at a better time. They’re 3-0 in the conference with their toughest three games ahead of them.
Let’s see how this week goes against the Wolverines.
