Baylor Football: 5 reason the Bears will beat West Virginia in Week 8
By Matt Workman
5. Denzel Mims will be over the flu
Sophomore wide receiver Denzel Mims played last week but was ineffective due to having the flu. That will not be the case this week and Mims should be 100 percent by Saturday night. After being productive so far this season, his illness was a major impact on the Bears’ offense.
Mims was obviously hampered by illness against Oklahoma State with only two receptions for 20 yards. Mims has been averaging 21 yards per reception in 2017. He blew up against Oklahoma with 11 receptions and 192 yards and three touchdowns.
One of the few bright spots this year for Baylor has been the emergence of Mims. Since Chris Platt was lost for the year with an injury, Mims has been the go-to receiver for Zach Smith and the Baylor passing attack.
With Mims at 100 percent it should strengthen Baylor passing came and keep the defense honest. Being back at McLane will also help. Mims has 16 catches for 339 yards and five touchdowns at home this season.
