Mid-season is here and conference races are heating up. What teams are on Upset Alert in Week 8 and need to be extra careful with their opponents?

With Week 8 upon us, the battles for conference supremacy are starting to get interesting. As we get deeper into the season, a loss now by a top team, especially an upset against an unranked team, will certainly affect the conference and playoff races.

Last week, I predicted correctly both Tennessee and Florida would fall to South Carolina and Texas A&M, respectively. The other three teams on upset alerts were all in games decided by three points or less.

With that said, this week I’m going to make some bolder predictions. All teams on upset alert this week are favored by at least a touchdown, with the odds provided by Sportsbook Review. It should make for more interesting predictions. Let’s get to the picks.

Miami’s game against Syracuse looked much easier before last Friday, when the Orange took down Clemson. Now it looks tougher and the Hurricanes must take it seriously to avoid the upset. The Canes are a 16 point favorite.

Despite Syracuse being in the ACC since 2013, this is the first meeting between the two schools since 2003, the last year Miami was a part of the former Big East conference. Miami needed a 4th quarter rally to beat Georgia Tech last week and they just seem ripe for an upset at some point, so they land on this list for the second week in a row.

Syracuse played really well against Clemson and never trailed. Granted they were playing at home, but the Carrier Dome will never be mistaken for a serious home field advantage. The Orange kept it close on the road at LSU and at NC State, although they ultimately fell short to both teams. Head coach Dino Babers has his team believing and Saturday they could pull off another stunner.
