The Big 12 has a quiet slate in Week 8, aside from an early matchup between Texas football and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Texas football is one of the few teams in the Big 12 that have a legitimate chance at playing for the conference championship. Right now, the TCU Horned Frogs are the favorite to win the conference, but the Longhorns are not a team that anyone should count out to make some noise in the Big 12 this year.

In Week 8, Texas takes on the No. 10 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys at home. Oklahoma State is coming off a convincing 59-16 win over the winless Baylor Bears at Boone Pickens Stadium during the Homecoming Game.

Meanwhile, Texas is coming off a loss to its biggest rival after a huge home win over the Kansas State Wildcats in overtime in Week 6. The Red River Shootout did not go as anticipated for the Horns as the Oklahoma Sooners took care of business by a five-point margin.

Oklahoma State enters this matchup as a seven-point favorite over the Horns. Yet, the Pokes are one of the favorite picks among college football fans to be on upset alert. Winning in Austin, TX, is not going to be an easy task for any Big 12 team this year.

Texas has not defeated Oklahoma State since the 2014 campaign, one of the worst seasons for the Pokes in the last decade. However, the Horns have given the Pokes a tough fight most of the times its resulted in a loss for Texas.

The biggest matchup to watch is going to be this high-powered Oklahoma State passing attack against a very opportune Texas secondary. The Horns have not made it easy for any opposing quarterback this season, just ask Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield.

Now, let’s take a look at five reasons the Texas Longhorns will lose to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 8.
