Texas Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Oklahoma State in Week 8
By Jesse Smith
Heading into a big Week 8 matchup against Oklahoma State, here are three bold predictions for Texas football on Saturday.
On Saturday, an under-the-radar Big 12 battle will take place in Austin, Texas as No. 10 Oklahoma State will travel to Austin to face Big 12 foe Texas. Both teams are 2-1 in conference play and whoever wins on Saturday will have an important victory in an up-for-grabs conference.
This game has the making of a shootout and I have three bold predictions for what might happen on Saturday.
3. Mason Rudolph will torch the Texas secondary
My first prediction isn’t as bold as my last one — make sure you check that out — but facts are pointing to senior quarterback Mason Rudolph having a great day.
Texas gives up an average of 264.8 yards per game through the air and Oklahoma State averages 411.2 passing yards per game. If I was a betting man, I’d like to think that the Texas passing yards allowed average is going to increase after meeting Rudolph and Co.
Rudolph hasn’t had one game this season with less than 300 yards and the trend will not end on Saturday. Everyone knows that the senior is a big time quarterback and can toss the ball all around the yard it will be paramount for the Texas defense to do its best to stop yards after the catch if they want to pull off an upset.
With that being said, I see Rudolph throwing for a least 400 yards and four touchdowns in Austin. With Halloween around the corner, the Texas secondary might have nightmares of the guy that wears No. 2 for the Cowboys.
