Alabama Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Tennessee
By Zach Bigalke
The Crimson Tide held position atop the AP Top 25 with another convincing SEC win. Here are three takeaways from Alabama football‘s win over Tennessee in Week 8.
The third Saturday of October always serves as the traditional date for the interdivisional rivalry game between Tennessee and Alabama. This year, the Volunteers came to Tuscaloosa to square off against the top-ranked team in the country.
Tennessee entered the contest on a 10-game losing streak against the Crimson Tide, and after a 45-7 drubbing on the road that streak extended to 11 games. The Volunteers fell to 3-4 on the year, and a bowl game could be in jeopardy if they continue to play like they have through their first seven games of the year.
Nick Saban’s team was hardly perfect, and the coach will certainly have plenty to critique over the next week. But a win is a win, and Alabama is now 8-0 heading into its bye week. The Crimson Tide remain on a collision course for yet another shot at the national title. Alabama has participated in every edition of the College Football Playoff to date, and nobody looks capable of denying them a fourth straight appearance.
Another Alabama victory is hardly a shocker. But even though it was wholly expected, what can we learn from the Crimson Tide’s dominance over their longtime rival? Here are three takeaways from the mismatch in Tuscaloosa on Saturday afternoon.
