Miami Football: 3 takeaways from Week 8 win over Syracuse
Mark Richt‘s Miami football team won its third close game in a row over the Orange. The ‘Canes beat the Orange 27-19 on Saturday, and here are my three takeaways.
The Miami Hurricanes escaped another close game, this time with a victory over the unranked Syracuse Orange who upset the No. 2 Clemson Tigers a week ago.
The ‘Canes put up 480 total yards but their offensive efficiency lacked having to settle for field goals on even the one yard line. Malik Rosier suffered from his targets’ issues with drops and the running game took time to really get going.
The Orange did what they do, rely on Eric Dungey and in the first half that proved tragic as he threw four interceptions and looked confused by the Miami defense. Then, Dino Babers started calling up the running game and 20 personnel sets (two running backs) and Dungey got more comfortable. He ran for 100 yards and Dontae Strickland added 105 against a Miami defense that sold out on stopping Dungey in the passing game.
Miami has now won three close games in a row and here are my three takeaways from the Hurricanes’ eight point win over the Orange.
