Virginia Tech Football: 3 takeaways from dominant win over North Carolina

Virginia Tech football wasted little time jumping on a beleaguered North Carolina squad as the Hokies cruised to a 59-7 win in Blacksburg.
Josh Jackson put forth another solid outing, throwing for three touchdowns as the Hokies improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. The Hokies, whose resume includes only a loss to No. 2 Clemson kept their ACC and College Football Playoff hopes alive with the win.
North Carolina, on the other hand, continues to be a program that causes folks to scratch their heads. The Tar Heels now find themselves at 1-7 overall, and 0-5 in the ACC. Head coach Larry Fedora’s seat continues to warm by the week.
Turnovers continue to plague North Carolina, and Virginia Tech took full advantage of three Tar Heels’ giveaways. The Hokies’ defense also held the visitors to just 172 yards of offense. Virginia Tech led 52-0 before the Tar Heels put points on the board.
Justin Fuente has things rolling in Blacksburg. An attacking, swarming defense is wrecking havoc for opposing offenses. The offense is showing good balance, and Jackson has the look of confidence running the show. The Hokies are eyeing a Coastal division showdown at Miami in 2 weeks.
