Arkansas Football: 3 takeaways from blowout loss to Auburn
Auburn did exactly what it needed to get the win over Arkansas football to stay alive in the SEC West in Week 8.
Arkansas football needs some help to get back on track after three straight losses. A brutal October slate has gotten the best of the Razorbacks. Arkansas is now 2-5 (0-4 SEC) after a defeat at the hands of the Auburn Tigers. Numerous SEC fans could have seen this coming as Auburn should have been motivated with the way Week 7 ended for them.
Auburn suffered a comeback loss to the LSU Tigers last week. The Tigers were still in the running for the College Football Playoff before losing to LSU in Week 7. However, they could still stay alive in the SEC West and compete for a good bowl game by finishing out the season strong.
In freshman quarterback Cole Kelley’s second start of his young career, he did not manage much leading the Arkansas offense. The Hogs had a rough run last week against the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and now took on another tough opponent from the same state. Arkansas needs an easier opponent on their slate soon.
This game resulted in a 52-20 loss for Arkansas. It’s the fourth time in the last five contests that the Hogs have allowed more than 40 points to an SEC opponent. Considering the SEC is not know for its scoring, that is not an acceptable statistic.
Meanwhile, Auburn was able to get going in the right direction after the disappointing collapses against LSU. Auburn still has tough games against the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and Alabama on tap.
Now, let’s take a look at three takeaways from Arkansas’s loss to Auburn in Week 8.
