TCU Football: Horned Frogs obliterate Kansas in Week 8
TCU football stayed unbeaten with a 43-0 win over the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday. It was the Jayhawks, but the Horned Frogs looked extremely impressive.
Fox Sports got their fair share of jeers when they ran the TCU and Kansas game on their mother ship and put ALCS Game 7 on FS1. While the game was every bit as one-sided as expected, the after effects were far more expansive than anyone had imagined.
TCU was dominant in every aspect of the game. Quarterback Kenny Hill completed 19 of 26 passes for 278 yards and five touchdowns. KaVontae Turpin returned a punt 90 yards. But it was the defense that made the loudest statement of the game.
Negative 17.
That’s how many yards of total offense that the Jayhawks had before half time. The Horned Frog defense had their most dominant outing of the season. The Jayhawks averaged a loss of .8 yards per carry and converted just 2-of-15 third downs.
Kansas finished the game with 21 total yards, but those came in the fourth quarter on their final two drives of the game. They might have been able to get a few more yards, but head coach David Beaty and TCU head coach Gary Patterson agreed to let the clock run in the fourth quarter.
College football does not have baseball’s mercy rule, where the game ends after one team has a big enough lead. The running clock might be the next best thing. TCU was a 37 point favorite on Saturday and they won by 43.
