There was another loss for Baylor to deal with, this time against the West Virginia football in Week 8 of the 2017 season.
Baylor football came away with another heartbreaking defeat to the No. 23 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers on the road, at Milan Puskar Stadium, in Week 8. West Virginia held on for the 38-36 victory behind a huge effort from quarterback Will Grier.
This victory helped to keep West Virginia alive in the race for the Big 12 Championship Game. After West Virginia’s loss to the TCU Horned Frogs, it cannot afford another loss for the rest of the regular season. The Mountaineers are already eliminated from the College Football Playoff after the season opening loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies.
In Week 7, Baylor fell short against the No. 10 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Homecoming Game at Boone Pickens Stadium. It was a blowout loss for Baylor in the fashion of a 59-16 defeat. That was different from the fact that Baylor had competed in close games for most of the season like this one.
West Virginia claimed its fifth win of the season. Yet, it’s a wonder why the Mountaineers are a two-loss team ranked inside the top 25 right now considering array of victories they have this year. The Mountaineers have taken down Delaware State, East Carolina, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Baylor.
Next week, Baylor gets another tough opponent in the Texas Longhorns, who also suffered a heartbreaking defeat in Week 8 at the hands of Oklahoma State in overtime. Meanwhile, West Virginia actually gets the Pokes at home in what should be a top 25 showdown.
Now, let’s take a look at three takeaways from Baylor’s loss to West Virginia in Week 8.
