1. College Football Playoff is a lock

If one thing ran rampant after Saturday’s blowout win against USC, it was the notion that Notre Dame was a lock to be in the College Football Playoff. That was the most popular discussion topic within the fan base and there were even some experts who claimed that Notre Dame had a more-than-fair shot at making its first ever appearance.

The Fighting Irish beat the No. 11 team in the country by 35 points and made it look rather easy. Their only loss on the season was against the now-No. 3 team in college football by a single point. Imagine if the Irish won that game — we might be talking about a top-five team.

Wins against Michigan State and Boston College are looking better by the week as both teams keep winning. To strengthen their case for the playoff, they need to keep winning.

However, there are still five games left on the schedule and they’re not exactly easy wins for the Irish. There’s a chance this young team could slip up and also, there’s a chance that they don’t make the playoff even by winning out because they aren’t in a conference. There’s no such thing as a ‘lock’ in college football.
