Texas A&M Football: 2017 midseason grades by position
By Dana Becker
It’s been an interesting season for Texas A&M football and head coach Kevin Sumlin. The Aggies are 5-2, but how did each position grade out in the first half?
For all their hangups, the Aggies are right in the thick of the SEC race at the midpoint of their season. However, despite what many would call a great seven-game stretch, as much has been made about Texas A&M’s struggles as any other team in the nation.
Sumlin has been on the hot seat since a Week 1 loss to UCLA that saw the Aggies blow a huge lead. They rebounded with four consecutive wins, including a pair of seven-point victories over league foes Arkansas and South Carolina, before falling to No. 1 Alabama by eight points.
They enter this week vs. Mississippi State a half-game behind Auburn in the SEC West standings and tied with LSU for third. Texas A&M still has games with both Tigers on the horizon along with New Mexico and Mississippi in between.
With the come-from-behind win over Florida now in the rear-view, let us take a look at midseason grades for the Aggies.
